Coffee and Cake

She took his arm and limped alongside him to a table for two on the edge of the mezzanine. Tears filled her eyes before she was even halfway there. She sat down, glanced at her knee, already swollen it had even started to bruise. 

Great, just great.

‘Give me a minute.’

He said, before rushing away to speak with the barista before returning to drop into the seat opposite. It surprised her how relieved she was that he was back. She’d felt adrift, alone. 

Crazy! 

The office block busy, the cafe half full of executives, all minding their own business, No one noticing a woman in tears, except him.
